La partie la plus importante du système s'appelle Soundminer. Cette composante est installée sur chaque station de travail qui requiert des fonctions de base de données, de recherche, d'édition et de transfert. Il existe des versions complète (Full) et allégée (Light) et si vous choisissez la version Light, vous pouvez plus tard effectuer une mise à niveau vers la version complète en ne payant que la différence de prix.

Voici une description des principales fonctionnalités (en version originale du manufacturier) :

• 50 Metadata Fields- ingest BWAV containers, ID3 tags, Scene and Reel, music fields and more....and absolutely no reduction in search speed!

• Metadata Copy - transfers all metadata (including project data) when transferring to Pro Tools or any other DAW.

Ripper est inclus avec la première copie de la version complète de Soundminer. Il s'agit d'un outil de numérisation de CD. Cette application extrait les pistes et les index de vos CD d'effets sonores commerciaux, reconstitue les " waveforms " et insère une enveloppe de méta data dans le fichier résultant. Soundminer pourra par la suite cataloguer toutes ces informations automatiquement dans sa base de données.

SERVERX offre une solution aux organisations qui fonctionnent dans un environnement centralisé avec plusieurs postes de travail. Lorsque chaque poste est équipé d'un terminal Soundminer, la composante SERVERX utilise MySQL pour gérer l'accès à une base de données partagée à partir d'un serveur central. Le système est optimisé pour donner à chaque terminal le même accès rapide aux données que lorsqu'on travaille en mode local.

Ce ne sont pas tous les membres de votre équipe qui ont besoin de la puissance des fonctions avancées de Soundminer, MAIS ils ont besoin de rechercher facilement, de prendre des décisions et de partager ces décisions avec le reste de l'équipe. C'est pourquoi Soundminer HT existe. Pour un prix modeste, il est possible d'ajouter un nombre d'accès illimité au serveur, via fureteur Internet. Soundminer HT offre plusieurs des fonctionnalités innovatrices de Soundminer (Recherche avancée, sommaire, etc.)
