POLYCOM STATE-OF-THE-ART VOICE AND VIDEO PRODUCTS RECEIVE INDUSTRY AWARDS

Polycom receives Product of the Year Awards for SoundStation VTX 1000 wideband conference phone and Polycom VSX 7000 group video conferencing system, and Editor's Choice Award for SoundPoint IP 600 SIP desktop phone

PLEASANTON, Calif. - Dec. 2, 2003 - Polycom®, Inc., the world's leader in video and voice conferencing, conference bridges, and integrated web collaboration solutions, today announced that it received significant industry awards for several new state-of-the-art conferencing solutions. Polycom received Product of the Year awards for the SoundStation VTX™ 1000 wideband conference phone and its new Polycom VSX™ 7000 group video conferencing system, as well as an Editor's Choice Award based on an evaluation of its SoundPoint® IP 600 SIP desktop phone.

In its December 2003 issue, Communications Convergence magazine honored Polycom's SoundStation VTX 1000 wideband conference phone and the Polycom VSX 7000 group video conferencing system with Product of the Year awards and referred to the two new systems as "category killers." The SoundStation VTX 1000 received high praise for its industry first wideband audio functionality, commenting that 'listener exhaustion' is decreased and "the whole feeling of 'distance' is altered" with the phone. The article also noted that wideband audio was "Definitely the wave of the future," and asserted "people even sound more credible in wideband." Communications Convergence lauded the Polycom VSX 7000 system for its "superb audio and video quality," and its expandability, customizable user interface and ease of use.

Network Computing magazine awarded the SoundPoint IP 600 its Editor's Choice award in a head-to-head review of six desktop phones supporting the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). The article titled, "Polycom KOs Proprietary VoIP Woes," noted the phone's ease of use, features, functionality and diagnostic capabilities as determining factors for the award (Network Computing 8.21.03). The Polycom SoundPoint® IP 600 was selected over phones from Mitel, Siemens, Zultys, Snom and ipDialog for the Editor's Choice Award.

"Customers have come to expect truly innovative, high-quality solutions from Polycom and these industry awards help recognize three new products that continue the heritage of industry leading voice and video communications solutions," said Marlene Williamson, vice president of corporate marketing for Polycom.
