Quality, Flexibility
Make Xantus the #1 Choice
Orlando,
FL- (December 17, 2003) Video Arts has selected the Teranex Xantus
platform as the technical cornerstone for its HDTV post-production studio
in San Francisco. The Xantus at Video Arts delivers the first, real-time
multi-format conversion capability to San Franciscos emerging HD
market, providing unsurpassed quality for up-conversions and the integration
of divergent digital media into HD programming. Xantus enables complete
format and frame rate conversion, which is crucial for worldwide delivery
formats. The Teranex multi-format and multi-application platform provides
Video Arts with state-of-the-art tools to meet their customers needs
for a costeffective HD production process in an increasingly confusing
world of emerging and, often conflicting, formats.
Xantus
supports more than 100 conversion formats and is the ultimate platform
for customers who service clients globally, said Janet Leising,
vice president of marketing, Teranex. Xantus provides flexibility
and the highest quality multi-format conversion available between Standard
Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) with intuitive user controls,
creating a future-proof platform for emerging formats. Some of the
key features of Xantus are; the unique PixelMotion de-interlacing
and frame rate conversion, sophisticated film cadence detection to correct
broken 3:2 cadence, aspect ratio controls and automatic colorspace processing
between SD and HD formats.
Xantus
is a key factor in helping us to evolve our business, said Kim Salyer,
Managing Partner, Video Arts. We believe that HD represents the
focal point of the ongoing convergence of film, video and other digital
media. Its a watershed moment in the history of media and one of
the great challenges is the cross-conversion of media that have different
resolutions, frame rates and aspect ratios. Our clients are excited by
the power of HD imagery but confused by the wide array of competing formats
and standards and they are concerned about the viability of mixing media.
The Xantus has quickly established itself as the magic problem-solving
box and our clients ask for Teranex by name for up-conversions
and finishing quality down conversions, continues Salyer.
We were a little nervous about making the investment in Xantus but,
after only a few months, we are upgrading our system to include the full
range of products. Weve used the Xantus for a variety of SD applications
including fixing broken cadence for film originated programs that were
edited in video and were being transferred back to film. Weve converted
4x3 aspect material to 16x9 and our clients were amazed at the quality
of the expanded images; they looked as good as the original.
