There is no need for the Avid editor to waste time flattening an edited sequence or laying off to tape - just import an AAF sequence and play the same files created by the editor. Locating the first frame of a scene is faster because one can tab from cut to cut without scrubbing. Each video clip is labeled with the same name the Avid editor gave it, and audio exported from Pro Tools is automatically time-stamped to ensure it is placed correctly in the Avid timeline.
