CEV is pleased to forward you an invitation from Sony to the second presentation in the Sony Technology Series (STS).

As a follow up to the first topic of last year, "Compression as an Enabling Technology", Hugo Gaggioni - GM Technology Sony U.S., returns to discuss compression strategies as they apply to HD.

Considering the technological and economic demands imposed by HD on the Broadcast Television and attendant Production industries, Hugo will review the basics of sampling and compression strategies, and will compare various codecs, such as MPEG-2 HL, AVC, JPEG-2000 and AVCHD.

The seminar will outline the Pros and Cons of various codecs, and will include a video presentation comparing some of the codecs discussed to illustrate why codec decisions are made.
