The most vital part of the system is called, simply enough, Soundminer. Each and every terminal that needs to database, search, edit and transfer needs this application. Both a Full and Light version exist and if you start with the Light version, you can upgrade to the full version for simply the difference in price.

Soundminer 3.1 features include:

Ripper which comes bundled with the first copy of Soundminer FULL's Primary license, is a CD digitizing tool. This application takes your commercial sound effect CDs (ie. Sound Ideas, The Hollywood Edge, Digiffects, etc) and extracts both track and index information, prebuilds all your waveform overviews and embeds a multi field wrapper of metadata in the resulting file. When then scanned and acquired by Soundminer's database engine, all that information is catalogued automatically.

For those facilities requiring a centralized multi seat environment, SERVERX is the answer. With your Soundminer terminals in place, SERVERX components (MySQL and special configuration files) sits on a centralized computer and serves up the shared database to all the Soundminer terminals, even those logging in from outside. ServerX fully supports MySQL giving the user full freedom within that industry wide standard. Integration has been optimized so that even shared databases run with the same great speed users experience on local-only systems.

Not everyone needs the power of Soundminer at their disposal. BUT, they DO need to able to search easily, make decisions and share those decisions with the more advanced team members. Now that shouldn't cost a proverbial "arm and a leg." Soundminer HT (HyperText) is that kind of solution. For one modest price, a Soundminer Server facility can add unlimited Browser based access and cross platform searching and sharing. Soundminer HT is packed with Soundminer innovations like the complex compound boolean search engine, summary search, Flip window and more.
